Our Work : Decking Water Damage Repair – Burbank and Los Angeles – SoCal

Water damage remediation isn’t something that we tend to think about in advance, only when we’re in the middle of an emergency or monitoring a part of our home that has been getting progressively worse.

Case Study – Water damaged Decking Remediation & Remodeling

The problem:

An issue with the deck above caused leaking to the below deck. This led to water damage to the deck and inside the home. 

Assessing the Damage:

It’s important to hire a professional for water damage remediation jobs because there is often more damage than what is initially visible. This was the case with this job.

When we opened up the walls and ceilings we found the insulation was completely wet and there were dry rot and mold caused by the leaking deck. The glass from the windowsill needs to be repaired.

Remediation:

We started with the framing repairs and new plywood, once this was completed we installed new metal flashing and waterproof deck coatings.

After the deck coatings were completed we carried out a water test to make sure all the leaking was remedied.

Then we could install/repair the drywall and paint. We were also able to modify and strengthen the steel handrails and fabricate new post base caps to ensure we will not have any water intrusion from the fasteners.

We also had to replace the glass in the windows that were leaking.

The final product was completed painted and finished, ensuring that the decking will not need to be rebuilt again if proper maintenance is done.
